Kuchumov, the author of numerous images of the suburban palaces of St. Petersburg – Leningrad and their interiors, during the war, performed a large cycle of paintings dedicated to the first blockage winter. The artist captured the resistance of the warrior city; The important and tragic moments of the life of Leningraders, courageously enduring all the hardships of war and blockade. In his paintings, snow -covered ships, the sky in the eating of fires, the city streets and Naberezhnya, who are tapped by frosts, citizens who are going for water to the descent to the Neva near Senate Square are everyday life of the front -line city. These works a year later were shown for the first time at the exhibition of the works of Leningrad artists for 1941–1942 in the city of Perm (then Molotov), where many cultural institutions of Leningrad were evacuated, and then at the Great Patriotic War in Moscow (1943).
