Volunteering
Florida Keys Wildlife Rescue relies on volunteers to help us help our wildlife. We are always in need of people to help with:
Maintenance/Grounds: Assist in the repair and upkeep of the facility including painting, repair of cages, mowing, weeding, cleaning, recycling, and other minor jobs.
Wildlife Transportation: Transport disabled wildlife to the FKWR facility or to other facilities for treatment; transport rehabilitated wildlife for release. At times, this will include ‘anytime’ calls to pick up disabled wildlife in the event of multiple rescues.
Supply Transportation: Travel locally or as far as Homestead for materials and supplies. A van is preferable for the long hauls.
Administrative Tasks: Computer data entry and other administrative tasks such as assisting with preparation of outreach and educational materials.
Educational Outreach: Assist at the FKWR booth at various venues including Kids Karnaval, Earth Day events, Boy/Girl Scout Camps; assist with presentations at organized meetings.
Fundraising: Plan, coordinate, and conduct local events to solicit funds for FKWR’s operational costs. A small group of people willing to take on a huge challenge would be ideally suited to this task.
